Prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, in February 2026 compared to February 2025 (on an annual basis) were on average 3.8% higher, while compared to January 2026 (on a monthly basis) they were on average 0.3% higher.
Observed according to the main groups of the ECOICOP classification, ver. 2, on an annual basis, the highest average increase in consumer prices was achieved in the groups Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, by 10.2% (contribution to the increase of +1.53 percentage points), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, by 7.7% (+0.38 percentage points), Restaurants and accommodation services, by 6.3% (+0.35 percentage points), Health, by 3.8% (+0.11 percentage points), Recreation, sports and culture, by 3.7% (+0.15 percentage points), Personal care, social protection and various goods and services, by 3.4% (+0.17 percentage points), Information and communication, by 3.2% (+0.19 percentage points), Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Insurance and financial services, by 2.9% each (contribution to the increase of +0.78 percentage points in the Food and non-alcoholic beverages and +0.06 percentage points in the Insurance and Financial Services group), and Transport, by 0.8% (+0.11 percentage points). The annual price increase was mitigated by a price decrease in the Education Services groups, by 1.6% (contributing to a decrease of -0.01 percentage points), and Furniture, home equipment and regular household maintenance, by 1.0% (-0.06 percentage points).
